sedna stories

Visual.music.theatre for the senses, setting several different versions of the legend of the Inuit goddess of the sea. Drawing on traditional world music, jazz and folk. Evocative avant-pop!

The piece was created in collaboration with the visual artist Harry Poole and the electronica artist Paul J Abott and written for juice and 5 instrumentalists.

I wrote the text, a mixture of interweaving stories about Sedna, from the gory to the more benign, and poems. Go to the poems page to read some of the texts.

The piece draws on traditional Inuit storytelling styles and has a committed marine conservation slant.

Have a look at some photos of the premiere, at the Rymer Auditorium in York, here.
